Spring Break Writing

Instead of having my students sit in a circle and share our stories from Spring Break (which is what we find ourselves doing usually), I decided to have my students become reporters! They had to interview a buddy and record his/her Spring Break stories. They took their recording sheet and later wrote a report about their buddy's Spring Break. They are used to writing about themselves so this was exciting for them. They also got to share what their partner did for Spring Break.
This student interviewed Nicholas. He took his training wheels off for the first time and went fishing!

This was Kaylee's report about Nicholas!

We also learned a new "chunk"! We learned that when -ar are together in a word, they make the -r sound. Here is our chart we use to remind us while we're writing
