Continents Continued

This week we are learning about Antarctica and Australia. We started with Antarctica today. I began by having the students close their eyes while I read about Antarctica. They had to create a mental picture of what they thought Antarctica looked like. They drew their picture before I showed them real pictures of the continent. This is a great introduction to an important reading strategy. I always want them to imagine the story in their head as their reading!
