Free Writers!

Nothing makes my class happier than when they get to...FREE WRITE! We turn on classical music, and we have 40 minutes of uninterrupted writing time. At this point in the year, I'm asking my students to write at least 4 sentences. The most important thing to me; however, is that their story makes sense. If they get done with their story and illustration, they move on to their editing checklist. I can't explain how happy I get when I look around and see twenty 5 and 6 year olds engaged in their writing!! Here's what today looked like :)
